Nail Alakbarov graduated from the Azimzade College of Art (1998) before completing a Master's degree at the Azerbaijan State Academy of Arts (2004). He went on to study at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Limoges and earned a second Master's in Cinematography at the Univeristy of Lumiere in Lyon (2011). His work has been included in international exhibitions and film symposia.
