FILM CLUB: AMIL MAMIYEV ’S FILM THE BLACK RIBBON

YARAT Contemporary Art Space is delighted to invite you to the screening of 'The Black Ribbon', directed by Amil Mamiyev (Azerbaijan). The screening will be organized as a event of YARAT Film Club. “The Black Ribbon” is included in the parallel program of the 40th portmanteau film.

"The black Ribbon" is a dramatic story set in Baku and near the settlement of refugees of Hadzhikabul city – in Qizilburun. The screenwriter and the production director of the movie Amil Mamiyev is the winner of the youth competition "yenifilm.az" of "Azərbaycanfilm" film studio. The director of photography Rauf Qurbanaliyev, production designer Aziz Mammadov and the artistic director Jamil Guliyev were the members of production group. "The Black Ribbon" was produced by Arif Safarov and Mushfig Gatamov.
Cast: Vidadi Aliyev, Elkhan Abbasov, Rasim Jafar, Ayshad Mamedov, Mezakhir Gashimov and others.
As Amil Mamiyev mentioned, the movie has been called "A black tape" not incidentally. The name of the movie is related to a tree of wishes, tied up by black tapes which can be seen as a metaphor of the sad events occurring in Karabakh. The movie describes the mode of life of the refugees, their sense of longing for Karabakh.
Film will be shown in Azerbaijani.
