FINISSAGE PARTY JE T’AIME IN FRAME YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND ME GROUP EXHIBITION

ARTIM PROJECT SPACE is hosting the finissage event “Je t’aime” that concludes the performance experiment “YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND ME” of the three artists Vusal Rahim, Vugar Guliyev, Aysel Amirova and the theater group ADO. Within the interaction between one of the visitors the sentence “Je t’aime” was written by one of the actors as a spontaneous reaction on the wall.

The experiment encouraged visitors to understand the meaning of the works from the artists’ point of view by entering into the shoes of the other instead of treating the works as a subject of observation. The project consisted of the cooperation by three artists with the theatre group ADO who worked together on a participatory performance. This shoe-shifting experiment sought to take out our selves from our comfortable, known position taking the risk to step out into the unknown and changing the angle of our usual view.

ARTIM is directed at young Azerbaijani artists with an intention to support and encourage emergent talent to grow. The programme has a designated exhibition space in Icheri Sheher that was conceived as a platform for experimenting and professionally showcasing art. Artworks resulting from the programme are exhibited at the ARTIM Project Space, Baku.
