YARAT RESIDENCY: STUDIO SHOW ILLUMINATO BY NEDA ZARFSAZ (IRAN)

YARAT Contemporary Art Space is glad to invite you to a studio show 'Illuminato' by YARAT's current resident Neda Zarfsaz.

Neda Zarfsaz presents a body of work that muses on the concepts of being and nonexistence. Inspired by Plato's quote, 'The sun's body is seen by everyone, its soul by no one', the artist attempted to materialize the light by reflecting it into the camera. The series of magical landscapes with glimmering lights are infused with romantic sensation of solitude and playful associations.

The artist achieved the result employing mirrors which in Iranian culture signify illumination and honesty.

A series of video and photography will be on show at the YARAT Studios for two days. 

Neda Zarfsaz was born in 1981, Urmia, Iran. She holds an MFA from Valand Academy of Gothenburg University. In 2013 she was awarded the MOP CAP residency award at Gasworks in London and the Adlerbertska Hospitiestiftelsen award in Gotenburg Sweden in 2011.

She has held her solo shows at Azad Art Gallery, Tehran, Etemad Gallery, Tehran, Mohtasham Gallery, Urmia, Mottahedan projects, Dubai, Backa Culture House, Gothenburg and group shows at Haugesund Kunstforening, Haugesund, Momayez Gallery, Iranian Artist’s Forum, Sammlung Lenikus, Vienna, Endjavi Barbe Art Projects, Pasinger Fabrik, Munich, Galleria Clou, Ragusa, Atopia, Oslo, 6th Iranian National Biennial of Sculpture: Niavaran Artistic Creation Foundation in Tehran, Röda Sten, Goteborg, Sweden among the others.
