ARTIM PROJECT SPACE – XXXXXXY GROUP EXHIBITION

YARAT Contemporary Art Space is delighted to announce the opening of ARTIM Project Space on 20th November 2015 which is designated for experimental projects.

A new space was opened with XXXXXXY exhibition by seven anonymous artists.  Artists, whose names are undisclosed, presented their experimental installations under the names of X and Y. General theme of the exhibition is closely connected to the history of a building which previously was a residential house. 

Thus, the project of Amulet presented by the author X holds the idea of the place which brakes all human enchantments. Amulets, hanged in the entrance of the room, are hanged in order to break enchantments of the person and help him to enter the room as “pure of enchantments”. Entrance to the room is like a “Portal” to another world.

Motivational factor in creation of another installation titled Eternal documents presented by author X is that all valuable, worthy documents, photos, research materials in the field of music and archeology, financial documents, letters that the owner of the house gathered during all his life are left like unnecessary things. Intellectual heritage of person who devoted his life to the scientific researches was abondoned.  In order to make these things eternal, the artist here combines the artifacts with metallic jaws used to combine woods and thus creates the art work.

Installation Madonna describes a person left “alone at home” and this is one of the means of expression by installation. Special sound system installed within the cupboards creates an effect of moving dishes (plates, cups and etc.).

The experimental work titled Event describes a real story happened in Icharishahar in the 60-70th years of XX century. In the exhibition the Event was described as a “legend” has been written on the walls of an old building located in Icharishahar. 

The installation titled Find me consisted of several scattered independent installations was presented like one full work. The installation is closely connected to the history of the house and private life of the artist. The artist finding motivation in the rooms of the house immediately creates objects.

Another installation is called I will teach you how to make it correctly.  Repeatedly expressed in different intonations, this sentence is the voice of advice, aggression or confessions made by the past residents of the house. Perhaps, this sentence will throw you into confusion, being perceived as the voice of spooks. That voice is indication of the state of the people living in this house in the past and of the spooks currently existing there. Spooks are in search of shelter like people. Questions like where to stay or exist are the main irritative factors of anxiety and instability. Installation creates the effect of bad dream. Contrasts are displayed in the shapes of figures and installation objects.

Installation titled Tell me your state there presented by the author Y, was organized like a dialogue among the current state of the building which was a residential house in the past, its history and newly created romantic photo compositions. Parts of the house shot from different points were presented in the style of photo collage.

Exhibition will continue until December 20, 2015
