Museum 2014: Invasion, within the framework of ARTIM

UNS Creative Stage

Yarat invites you to participate in ARTIM 'open doors day', to be held on 16th May. From all the applcations, 30 participants will be selected for a new project.

The main goal of the project is the study and popularisation of national historic and cultural heritage in the milieu of young specialists from the world of culture, as well as within the wider population. Another important aim of the project is to develop conceptual art through employing modern technology in synthesis with traditional genres of pictorial art.

Special emphasis has been put on the topical subject of combining tradition with innovation in the space of a modern museum, with the aim of transforming it into a cultural and educational centre the collections of which, together with related activities, will include answers to questions about the past, present and future of human civilisation.

Over a period of five months from May to September 2014, the Museum 2014. Invasion arts project will take place. A group of young artists, led by Azerbaijani project curator and honoured artist Sabina Shiklinskaya, will research and study collections, funds and archives of a number of museums in Baku and regions of Azerbaijan, including the National Museum of Arts, the Carpet Museum, the Historical House Museum of Z. Taghiyev, the Gobustan Open Air Museum, the Shirvan Khans Palace museum complex, the Icheri Sheher and Giz Galasi museum complex, the Fire Temple Museum at Surakhany, the museum complex in Gala, the Khan Palace Museum at Sheki, the Medrese museum complex in Ganja city and museums in Nakhichevan and others.

Young artists will develop and produce art projects in the genre of modern conceptual art based on materials studied in the museums. The works created will be shown in museum spaces and displayed for a period of two months from October to November 2014. Based on the results of the project a catalogue will be published.

All those wishing to take part in the project are invited to submit their ideas on 16th May from 12:00 to 16:00.

Please bring your Creative Portfolio. The portfolio may be presented in any convenient format, including electronic media.
