TASTY CATCH UP: MENZER HAJIYEVA AND SUAD GARAYEVA-MALEKI - IS FASHION ART?

YARAT Friends presents 4th meeting of Tasty Catch up meetings. This time, our guest speakers for the late breakfast will be Suad Garayeva Maleki, Strategic and Artistic Director of YARAT Contemporary Art Space and Manzar Hajiyeva, fashion designer. The meeting will be devoted to the topic “Is Fashion Art?”
Suad Garayeva-Maleki now is a curator and a specialist in Contemporary Art from Russia and the CIS at Sotheby's, London, curating the pioneering At the Crossroads exhibitions. She also headed up Russian and Eastern European Contemporary Art sales. She has been a long-time collaborator of YARAT, and has worked on numerous international exhibitions, such as the National Pavilion of Azerbaijan at the 53rd and 54th Venice Biennales. One of the recent exhibitions curated by Suad in collaboration with Lorenzo Balbi was held in Villa Delle Rose.
Menzer Hajiyeva is a fashion designer specializing in fabric prints and scarves. Menzer has worked in the studios of Michael Kors, Zac Posen, Narciso Rodriguez and Lanvin in New York and Paris. She graduated from New York University and Parsons School of Design and worked in the fashion industry in New York before moving to Paris. In Paris, she studied at the Parisian fashion school Studio Berçot and worked as a designer at Lanvin. She has also done a course in textile printing at Central Saint Martins in London and an internship in handbag design in Florence. Since 2012, Menzer has been working on developing her own brand.
