OVERVIEW

Aurélien Lepetit (b. 1992, France) lives and works in Amsterdam (NL). Raised by two Sports’ figures, he has been trained as a runner for 400m hurdles races and as a classical viola player before studying Art and Design. Using movement and body in motion, his interest on post-performative actions and missing bodies are a base for his artistic research and practice. Lepetit holds both a BA in Design of Spaces specialized in Set- and Stage Design and a MA in Exhibition Design from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-arts, Lyon (FR). He has been studying at the School of Design, part of the East China Normal University in Shanghai (CN) and holds a second MA from the Dirty Art Department at the Sandberg Institute, Amsterdam (NL). Lepetit’s work has been part of: The Wandering School during the Salone del Mobile, Milan (IT) ; Lucky Larry’s Cosmic Commune during the International Design Biennale, Saint-Etienne (FR) ; and exhibited at De Appel Art Center, Amsterdam (NL) ; Extrapool, Nijmegen (NL) ; NN Galeria, La Plata (AR) ; Theater Torpedo, Amsterdam (NL) and NEVERNEVERLAND, Amsterdam (NL).

Aurélien Lepetit is currently assistant coordinator of the Dirty Art Department, Amsterdam and curatorial assistant at ISO, Amsterdam.
