YAY Gallery presents works by Museyib Amirov

II International Polo Tournament, Azerbaijan

5 > 7 September 2014

On first investigation into the centuries-old traditions of Azerbaijan, it becomes apparent that polo obsession dates back centuries. The national game 'chovgan' has already been listed as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage and could be perceived a forebearer of present-day polo. In this very field day, when the Azerbaijani national team makes its first appearance at such a high level international tournament, YAY Gallery is supporting our polo players by putting on a small-scale solo exhibition of Azerbaijani honoured artist Museyib Amirov.

Museyib Amirov was born in Baku into the family of Arif Amirov, another Azerbaijani artist. Museyib’s art works often been showcased often in the USA, France, Germany and Lithuania and are hosued in numerous renowned worldwide museums and private collections. For the tournament promotion, YAY Gallery specifically selected artworks related to the picturesque beauty of the artist’s homeland, Azerbaijan. Here you can see the Absheron and Pirshaghi coastlines, faraway Sheki, as well as bunches of flowers plucked in the illimitable spaces of his fatherland. Depicting the areas of his home country, in his specific way of painting with emotional colours, the artist endows the pictures with living spirit. Quite unexpectedly, vivid and colourful art pieces grab the viewer's attention thanks to their severity and colour saturation.
