e·phem·er·a is an art exhibition that will open at the Baku Museum of Modern Art in Baku on December 20 as the third in a series of young curator exhibitions, supported by non-profit organization YARAT.

The exhibition curator’s idea is based on mythology motifs in artworks by eight artists: Eliyar Alimirzayev, Rasim Babayev, Kamal Ahmad, Zakir Huseynov, Ujal Hagverdiyev, Yelena Hagverdiyeva, Niyaz Najafov and Altay Sadikhzadeh.

Every detail keeps in its heart a myth, imprinted in classical poetry and embodied in the paintings by prominent artists; concentrates invisible ties that bind numerous painting images and the images encoded in literature; contains meaningful parallels, symbols and allegories, formed by centuries of history. All of this content, according to the authors, characterizes us and our current existence.

Cooperation between the Museum and YARAT had originated more than a year ago as a result of the 'Curator and mediator practices in modern art' master classes held by Sabina Shikhlinskaya, the honored artist of Azerbaijan and independent curator.

During 2014, the Museum’s main exposition hall had already hosted the NUDA VERITAS and MEGAPOLIS projects considered to be successful experiments on reassessment of the Museum collection. In both cases the idea that arose within the framework of the training course had expanded to the size of a full-fledged art project. The project participants got unlimited access to the archives and storerooms of MoMA and thus the audience got fresh interpretation of familiar subjects.
