THE LAST LIMOUSINE / 2013 / RUSSIA / 74.00 min / Documental / colour
Imagine that everything you have stood for and achieved in your work is now suddenly worthless. Faced with the relentless demise of the factory they work at, Mikhail, Andrey, Nina, Vladimir, Nadia and Luda - bosses, foremen, engineers and workers of the giant Moscow automobile plant ZIL – cling to established routines and professional pride to stay upright in a world which crumbles around them. When an order comes in for the production of three of the factory's legendary hand-made limousines, once the centre-piece of Soviet military parades on Moscow's Red Square, Mikhail's team of hand-picked specialists throws itself at the opportunity to show what they are worth.
Daria Khlestkina was born in 1973 in Moscow. Graduated from Moscow State Linguistic University in 1997 (specialization: French language and literature). Worked for a few years as a translator, (6 books from French into Russian), subsequently studied photography in Florence, Italy (two exhibitions). Back in Moscow worked as scriptwriter (TV), columnist at film magazine ("Action!"), PR manager (TV and films), production manager and then as line producer and researcher (documentary and feature films). In 2009 graduated from Higher Institute of Journalism (school of documentary filmmaking of Marina Razbezhkina) as director of documentary films.
