OPEN CALL: KINOATELIER PROJECT

15 Mar - 29 Mar 24

YARAT Contemporary Art Space introduces a new project called "Kinoatelier" aimed at supporting the creativity of young individuals in the field of cinematography and facilitating their acquisition of unique experiences.

The project, mentored by director, screenwriter, and producer Nurlan Hasanli, will run for three months starting in April. "Kinoatelier" will cover the fundamentals of screenplay development, film dramaturgy, and practical aspects of filmmaking through weekly sessions. Additionally, selected participants will develop their ideas and work on the selected single screenplay. Throughout the project, participants will have the opportunity to share their ideas and learn from each other. At the end of the project, they will shoot a short film based on their finalized screenplay under the artistic guidance of Nurlan Hasanli.

The project is open to individuals up to the age of 35 who possess certain experiences in the field of cinematography, as well as those who are new to creative endeavors.

Nurlan Hasanli, a graduate of the "Sarajevo Talents 2022" program, has received awards at various international film festivals, primarily for his documentary films, and has directed and produced seven short films. His works have been selected for festivals such as Lublin, Unified Filmmakers, DokuBaku, CineDoc Tbilisi, and the Baku International Short Films Festival.

His documentary feature film "The Amateur Photographer's Family Portrait" has been selected for the B2B Doc (2023), CineDoc Tbilisi (2023), and "When East Meets West" (2024) development programs, as well as presented at the European Film Market of the Berlin International Film Festival (2024) and awarded a grant from the Bertha Fund of the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA).
