'What is success?' - Hungarian success projects abroad, contemporary art seen from the inside and from outside”
The presentation focus on different internationally successful projects related to Hungary.
We will see some works from the Hungarian Pavilion in the Venice Biennial which had an aftereffect, we will see other contributions to other Biennials, and we will get some answers on the background of the prosperous works.
We will get a view on the project of the Little Warsaw group, the Body of Nefertiti in Venice in 2003, Andreas Fogarasi in 2007, István Csákánys participation on the Documenta 2012, Ádám Kokesh on the Istambul Biennial last year, Attila Csörgő on the last Sydney Biennial or Tamás Kaszás on the next among others.
The lecturer will speak about the ACAX organisation, which helps international curators, artists, and analyzes how the fall of the iron curtain created an interest towards the region. The lecture will also address the feeling of frustration, the too slow development of the local market, the experience of participating in international art fairs, the shadow of the 'big' avant-garde generation from the 1960s in Hungary.
