YARAT Contemporary Art Space is pleased to announce the “De/Construction” Talk at ARTIM Project Space by Zyarri Mukhtarly.
Zyarri Mukhtarly introduces her artistic works, which consist mainly of illustrations but also as graffiti interventions in public space. Her rigors style emphasizes intense colorism, flattened forms and decorative patterns. Behind the at first glance playful, cheerful works questions regarding society, urbanization, gender and cultural identification are hidden.
Zyarri was born in 1992 in Kalbajar, Azerbaijan. As a child, she moved to Russia, where she grew up and studied Linguistics. She started her artistic path in 2012, since then she has been exploring the medium of illustrations as well as street art. As a young artist being part of the Azeri diaspora in Russia, she is interested in subjects of cultural hybridity, as well as language, feminism and perception of the city space. She participated in local exhibitions in St.Petersburg.
“De/Construction” Talks is a series of talks that takes place during the de/installation period at ARTIM. It provides a platform for critical discussion, brainstorming and exchange for young creative people to share and reflect on their body of work with a broader audience.
