OPEN CALL: YARAT CONTEMPORARY ART SCHOOL 2022-2023

YARAT Contemporary Art Space and artist-curator Sabina Shikhlinskaya present new project in the framework of YARAT education programs – first Contemporary Art School in Azerbaijan.

The opening of the school is dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the creation of YARAT Contemporary Art Space.

The result of the one-year course will be the certification of specialists in the following areas of contemporary art:

• artist
• curator
• art manager
• art critic
• art researcher

The project consists of both a theoretical part (lectures, meetings of artists, visits to studios, museums and galleries) and a practical part (final exhibition, exhibition programs).

The YARAT School of Contemporary Art's first phase consists of a 6-month intensive theoretical program. At this stage, lectures by local and foreign experts will be held on following types and areas of contemporary art: photo, video, installation, performance, conceptual painting, sculpture, collage, animation, etc. Besides that, meetings and discussions will take place in a number of galleries, museums and art studios, thus completing the theoretical aspect of the course.

Upon completion of the theoretical course, preparation for the final exhibition will take place. This stage includes the presentation of ideas and concepts of the exhibition, research, work with various materials, forms and techniques, production process, budget preparation, installation, and opening of the final exhibition. The one-year course will be completed by the implementation of special educational and social programs within the framework of the exhibition.

Classes will be held 3 times a week, mainly in the evening.

The recruitment of applicants to the school will be held on a competitive basis.

• Written materials, essays, articles (if you apply for participation in the theoretical direction, these materials are required)
• All participants are required a 200-300-word motivation letter
• Age range: 18-35 years old
