LECTURE: IVETA VECERANE (LATVIA)

YARAT Contemporary Art Space presents the lecture named “Taste of Modern Art. Vibrations of Amber Threads” from Latvian famous artist Iveta Vecenane.

At the lecture Iveta Vecenāne will talk about Latvian textile art today, describe the historic development of textile art in Latvia during the last 100 years. Artist will provide the information about the most famous and internationally recognised Latvian textile artists.

Latvian well-known textile artist Iveta Vecenane (b. 1962, Riga) has studied the Art of Textile at Latvian Academy of Art in 1982-1988. Iveta Vecenane is a freelance artist since 1988. She is famous for hosting and organizing the textile exhibitions on an international scale. In 2013 she hosted the exhibition called “What Does Amber Still Have in Mind?” in Washington. In the period of 2016-2018 the artist hosted several exhibitions in Europe and Asia. Such as “In the Yard” exhibition of textile in Margilan City History Museum of Uzbekistan (2016); “The White” exhibition of textile at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow, Russia (2016); “The Secrets of Amber” exhibition of textile in Xin Dong Cheng Space for Contemporary Art in Beijing, Chine (2018). Ms Vecenāne has won the 3rd prize in The Second Silk Road Women’s Innovation Design Competition.
