FREESTYLE: EXTATIC DANCE DAY

YARAT Contemporary Art Space invites you to participate at an experimental Extatic dance event. The main purpose of this event is to help ease everyday tension and let your creative energy flow. Participants will be guided by knowledgeable facilitators and the author of the project Said Ismayilov (Yogaddin).

This practice is often described as free and spontaneous dance. Anyone can master some of it’s elements, regardless of age and previous experience. Ecstatic dance practice is based on metaphysical assumption that everything in this universe consists of different type of energies that move rhythmically and in waves. Our main goal them is to calm our mind, letting our bodies move in perfect harmony with our thoughts and desires. A performer of ecstatic dance reaches the state of meditation and connects to the world fairly quickly focusing on his body movement and breathing technique.

The main idea behind this exercise can be defined as “Dance and give yourself to the dance” 

Duration of the program: 2 h 30 min.

Rules:

• Do not chat during practice.
• You can only dance barefoot or wear socks
• Respect other people and their private space.
• If you will not to come in contact with other dancers, try to establish eye contact first to make sure you are not intruding. Some people prefer to dance solo.
• No telephones or cameras allowed.
• No food or drinks allowed during dance practice.
• You are allowed to bring water with you.
