PERFORMANCE WORKSHOP: NEZAKET EKICI SHORT BUT INTENSE

28 Nov 22

YARAT Contemporary Art Space invites to take participate in the performance workshop with Nezaket Ekici. The participants will get knowledge about the performance artist’s artworks and methods. The artist will show some of her works as performance fragments and will perform with the participants. Performance concentration exercises will help the participants to develop a presence in the space.

Participants will learn strategies to increase concentration with their own bodies and translate it into movement. They learn how to present an idea by means of performance and, in a certain sense, bring the work of art to life, for performance is essentially a temporalization of an idea and the "putting into motion" of a work of art.

Nezaket Ekici (b.1970, Turkey) is based in Berlin, Stuttgart, and Istanbul. She completed a Master's in Art Education at the Ludwig Maximilian University, while simultaneously studying Art Education in sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts (2000, Munich). Ekici has presented over 300 works of performance art in more than 60 countries on 4 continents.

With her performances, Nezaket Ekici, who studied performance with Marina Abramović at the Hochschule der Bildenden Künste Braunschweig, repeatedly pushes the limits of what is physically possible. The artist uses her body as a narrative instrument. In her works, which are presented as performances and installations, aspects such as movement, space, material, body, action, and interaction play important roles.

The number of participants is limited. Upon confirmation of registration, you will receive SMS and E-mail confirmation.
