PAINTING MUSEUM: THROUGH THE ARTIST'S EYES – RASIM BABAYEV

YARAT Contemporary Art Space invites you to the next meeting within the scope of “Through the Artist's Eyes” project. The meeting is dedicated to the People’s Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Rasim Babayev, who has had a great artistic influence on the painting and graphics of Azerbaijani fine art and has created a number of outstanding works.

Rasim Babayev's son, Elnur, who has chosen to follow in his fathers' footsteps, will be talking about the artist’s life and work, the specifics of his style, the arcana of his creative philosophy and his inner world.

Rasim Babayev (1927-2007) was one of the most prominent representatives of the so-called Absheron school of painting. He was deemed an underground and non-conformist artist working outside the ideological frames of the Soviet period. The synthesis of folk motifs and artistic individuality of the artist contributed to the formation of the unique style of Rasim Babayev. His work has had a significant impact on the contemporary art of Azerbaijan. Participants will also be able personally see the works of the great portrait painter included in the exposition of the museum, where the meeting will be held.
His works are held in permanent collections in Azerbaijan and abroad.
