PAINTING MUSEUM: LECTURE BY FUAD AKHUNDOV

The Museum of Azerbaijani Painting of the XX-XXI Centuries will organize a meeting with Fuad Akhundov – prominent researcher, historician, TV presenter, and author of The Baku Secrets TV documentary series.

During 1920s and 1940s Baku was a city where many talented artists and poets lived and worked despite the influence and pressure of the Soviet Union. This important stage in the life of Azerbaijan was rich with various events and disruptions which, in turn, were always reflected in art.

We are pleased to invite you join our talks about this important historical period, people and events which defined spirit of the time and had a huge impact on the formation of the socio-cultural context.

The meeting will be held within the framework of current Baku Speaking: 1900s-1940s exhibition which presents unique works and drawings covering the period from the very beginning of the XX century up to the WWII, as well as literary works, chronicles and paperwork.

Curators of Baku Speaking: 1900s-1940s exhibition made every possible efforts to bring together works of artists (Ismayil Akhundov, Azim Azimzade, Latif Feyzullayev, Mikhayil Gerasimov, Hasan Hagverdiyev, Ali bey Huseynzade, Geysar Kashiyeva, Bahruz Kangarli, Rustam Mustafayev, Ali Rasim Mukhtarov, Adil Gaziyev, Alakbar Rzaguliyev, Ogtay Sadigzade, Salam Salamzade, Sadig Sharifzade, Taghi Taghiyev, Gazanfar Khaligov, Kamil Khanlarov) and poet(esse)s (Mikayil Rafili, Jafar Jabbarli, Ahmad Javad, Seyid Huseyn Sadig, Umgulsum Sadigzade, Huseyn Javid, Mikail Mushvig and Samad Mansur) under one roof.
