THROUGH THE ARTIST’S EYE: AGHA MEHDIYEV

YARAT Contemporary Art Space invites you to the meeting within “Through the Artist’s Eye” project dedicated to People’s Artist Agha Mehdiyev.

Galib Gasimov, art critic, gallerist, mentor, expert, founder and director of "Contemporary Baku" company and Konul Azimova, Ph.D. in Art Studies, will share their research, analytical approaches and memories of the artist's work during the event.

People's artist Agha Mehdiyev (1920-2003) in addition to widely using landscape and portrait genres in his creativity, he also worked on military-patriotism. In his works, the working day, labor and rest of ordinary people are often poeticized.

In the early 1960s, during a creative trip to the Republic of Turkey, the artist created interesting paintings as a result of what he saw, heard and observed. After this visit, the solo exhibition of the artist dedicated to Turkey was organized in Baku.

His works are kept of museums, galleries and private collections of many countries.
