YARAT Contemporary Art Space presents Ismail Safarali's workshop in frame Film Club.

How to you electrify your story idea and/or adapt your piece of fiction into proper screenwriting format?

How do you write a fundraising proposal?

Come learn the techniques needed to effectively adapt a story into a screenplay ready for the screen. In this 2 hour workshop, we will explore tools and techniques in transforming action, dialogue and exposition in prose into visual storytelling. You’ll read and give feedback to one another's film adaptation projects.  

No prior screenwriting experience is needed. If you are an adventurous writer interested in crossing mediums into the world of film, or simply looking for ways to approach your creativity from another angle, this workshop is appropriate for you. 

Ismail Safarali (b. 1978 Baku) educated at Duke University (Durham, NC), MA Economics, 2003 and Moscow School of New Cinema (MSNC), MA Filmmaking, 2015. Since 2014, Ismail has worked as executive producer on two feature films (Azerbaijan and Russian co-productions), shot and produced three short films and co-authored a full feature script “Night Tide” among others. “Night Tide” has been selected as of 6 projects to participate in Midpoint Intensive program at the Karlovy Vary Film festival in July 2017.
