FILM CLUB: ISMAIL SAFARALI THE FISHERMAN’S DAUGHER

YARAT Contemporary Art Space invites yo to a premiere of the film “The Fisherman's Daughter”, a film written and directed by Ismail Safarali and produced by Maria Ibrahimova.

“The Fisherman's Daughter” is a drama about the life of a small fishing village on Absheron peninsula on the coast of the Caspian Sea. Sarah, a girl whose father disappears while fishing, refuses to believe in his death, because no one has found his body.

However, Sarah's family and the villagers insist on a funeral, albeit a formal one - the senior villagers are convinced that the unburied fisherman is the cause of all the misfortunes that befall their village. Sarah becomes rebellious and goes against the will of her family. She has the courage to defy tradition.Nature itself seems to agree with her – a storm is approaching, and Sarah sets off into the raging sea in quest of her father.
